One billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away every year in the United States, creating 50 million pounds of waste annually, ending up in our oceans and landfills!
From the maker, No Tox Life:
Bamboo Toothbrush: This bamboo toothbrush handle is made from Moso bamboo, is biodegradable and can be composted. The bristles are medium firm and are made of nylon 6.
Why not compostable bristles? The only 100% biodegradable toothbrush bristles on the market are made of pig hair, a byproduct of the Chinese meat industry. We do not support using or making products out of animals and therefore can only ethically support vegan alternatives. We look forward to the day when a bristle manufacturer invents the first dentist-approved fully compostable toothbrush bristles.
Bristles: While the natural colored nylon bristles cannot be composted, we recommend to put them inside a larger container or bag that you're putting in the trash or recycling, to ensure they don't fall out and end up in the environment.
Why Bamboo: Bamboo is an incredibly versatile raw material. It's long lasting, anti-bacterial, has a tensile strength stronger than steel, releases 35% more oxygen compared to trees, and can grow up to a staggering 30 meters within just 3 years! Bamboo will also biodegrade naturally over time. Bamboo naturally repels water, making for a great toothbrush.
Package-free: Each toothbrush is in a lightweight kraft paper box.
